Team Qatar to be screened today

Source ::: THE PENINSULADOHA: Team Qatar, a featured documentary that delves in to the minds of a group of Middle Easterners will be screened at the Tribeca Film Festival today.
The suspenseful competition movie, directed by Liz Mermin, closely examines the diverse background and different ideas of the multi-cultural identifies of five 15-17 year-olds.
The plot of Team Qatar revolves round a team of recent Oxford grads hired by Qatar to coach the country�s first national high school debate team.
The first competitive debate will take place at the World Schools Debating Championship in Washington DC.
Team Qatar follows the group on a whirlwind crash course in debate that takes them from Doha to London to New York.
The filmmaker Mermin studied literature and cultural anthropology while also learning film-making in America before traveling as a Fulbright Scholar to Dakar, Senegal.
The film will be screened at City Centre Cinema 5 at 2.45 pm today and at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) at 2pm on Sunday.
