Ian Lising with Art Ward in Cork
Here is the reply I got from Ian Lising:
I was/am attending Worlds as an adjudicator (not even as the coach of La Verne anymore since I abdicated that role to Josh Martin). It will be my last debate IV as I am retiring from the activity. I needed to focus on my roles as a father, Department Chair, and faculty member. As far as I am concerned with this whole matter, Can Okar contacted me and told me that no one from the duly elected Executive Council was currently registered to attend Worlds. Then he proceeded to tell me that I was the only Council Member Emeritus who would be at the event. So, I thought that logically meant that someone needed to help the succession for Council leadership along. I suggested that an interim council be elected so that people would know what was what.As for the rest of the details, I leave that to Neill and Adiba to sort through as I will now thankfully return to my original plan to attend Council solely to support La Salle and wish everyone well. So no Tuna, I do not have any role beyond that, nor did I ever actively (or passively for that matter) hope for one.
