The heckling that Rebecca Meredith experienced is an act of violence against women. It is like men acting like pack animals against a perceived threat. In Egypt men have been paid to sexually abuse women in the street, especially those who are at demonstrations, in order to frighten them into silence. This is the same sort of thing - the heckling and humiliation is used as a means to attempt to quash opposition and stop women from speaking. I hope Glasgow University is holding its head in shame.
