USA Speech & Debate Leader Suddenly Passes Away - William Woods Tate


Speech and Debate Community Suffers a Tremendous Loss

As a community, we are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of our friend and leader,William Woods Tate, Jr., on April 6, 2013. Billy was a five-diamond coach at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, TN and a member of the National Forensic League Hall of Fame. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 1988 and served on the Board until his retirement in 2012. He served as President of the National Forensic League from 1998 to 2012.

William Woods Tate, Jr., Memorial Fund

In order to honor Billy's legacy, the League has established the William Woods Tate, Jr., Memorial Fund. Contributions to the fund will endow a perpetual award in Mr. Tate's name presented at an annual leadership banquet to be held in his honor. To learn more, please see below:
