Policy Debate Workshop in USA Stresses Black Identity and Social Issues

The Eddie Conway Liberation Institute (ECLI) at Morgan State University is a national debate institute that aims to connect policy debate and social justice. The 2013 institute dates are from July 14 - August 4th.

Mission
There has historically been a lack of attention given to the necessity of positive images of Black people in the United States as a remedy for the violence and self-destructive behavior of Black youth. The need for the development of a strong sense of cultural identity is often neglected, even though many scholars have concluded that this is a key component to the development of good mental health. We aim to connect policy debate and social justice to the development of positive identity development for Black youth.

Description
ECLI a national debate institute. We provide the best academic debate training from many of the most successful and experience debate instructors in the United States. We are unified around the theme of Black empowerment and social justice.

The students will be equipped with policy debate training that incorporates cultural and racial identity and a developed knowledge of structural social, political and economic issues. Students will produce policy briefs on the given policy debate topic for following academic year.

This camp holds the prestige of being the ONLY national debate institute hosted and operated by an HBCU in the United States.
