December 2015 Coaches Poll for Intercollegiate Policy Debate

Winston-Salem, NC, December 7, 2015:  Successful coaches from around the country were invited to participate a poll ranking the top intercollegiate policy debate teams in the country.  Coaches from the following universities and colleges participated Arizona State, Georgia, Harvard, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Puget Sound, Wake Forest, Weber State.  Each submitted a ranking answering the question: who are the top 25 performing teams in the country?  They were asked to consider results from all policy tournaments sanctioned/governed utilizing the topic as designated by the Cross Examination Debate Association and the National Debate Tournament which is: “The United States should significantly reduce its military presence in one or more of the following: the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, the Greater Horn of Africa, Northeast Asia.”  Places were calculated by awarding 25 points for a 1st place vote, 24 points for a 2nd place vote, descending in order to 1 point for 25th place.  A total was then calculated to determine the final places.  Coaches were allowed to rank their own teams for placeholder purposes, but any ranking of one’s own team was replaced with an average of rankings from other voters.  Congratulations to the University of Michigan for being recognized as the #1 team in the country!
