This email is pertinent to all teams that have sent us money, or are on the waitlist and will be transacting with us in future.
We're fast approaching July 8th, our first payment deadline. Teams on the allocation list (goo.gl/gUXCM) must pay the downpayment amount due (INR 10,000 per debater or adjudicator) by this date, or risk forfeiture of all of their slots. All those that have made payment will receive confirmations on FastRego as soon as the registration team is able to process the transfer. We also request that you email a copy of the invoice/receipt that you receive from the bank after completing the wire transfer to us at registration@chennaiworlds.com, to make it easier for us to keep track of all payments that have been made.
We have received a number of payments that have no information regarding the name of the institution making the payment. Kindly note the name of the institution as a comment on the transfer document. It makes it very difficult for us to cross-reference payments in the absence of such information, and is the primary reason for delayed confirmations of your receipts.
We also ask that all teams that are unable to attend Worlds let us know of the same immediately. If you require an extension of the payment deadline for valid reasons, do email us at registration@chennaiworlds.com with the extension that you require and the reasons for the same. We will consider all requests and get back to you soon.
We have also received a number of queries about the PayPal system and whether it would be up and running by the first payment deadline. The issue we're facing in getting this up and running is that there are strict Indian regulations that govern the transfer of money from international recipients via PayPal to trusts and not-for-profit institutions. As Chennai Worlds is a not-for-profit event and is being hosted under the aegis of the Rajalakshmi Educational Trust, we come under these laws, and thus have been in talks with PayPal to sort this issue out from a legal perspective. We apologise deeply for the delay in getting the system up, but assure you that we are trying our very best to do so. Until we are able to provide further updates on the issue, we kindly request all teams to use the conventional method of wire transfer.
